Stakeholders Unite to Revitalize Great Zimbabwe Tourism"

Key stakeholders converged for a critical workshop aimed at shaping the future of tourism in Great Zimbabwe at a localhotelyesterday. Organized by Letsema and supported by UNESCO, this event brought together experts from various sectors to share insights, explore opportunities, and strengthen partnerships for a more competitive and sustainable destination.

The ultimate goal of the workshop was to establish a Destination Management and Marketing Organisation (DMMO) to boost tourism in Masvingo. This initiative is expected to enhance tourism infrastructure, promote sustainable tourism practices, and create a cohesive visual identity and brand guidelines for the destination.

Professor Frederick Kasese, Chairman of the steering committee, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in unlocking the full potential of the Great Zimbabwe Monuments. "By working together, we can showcase our rich cultural heritage to the world and create economic opportunities for local communities."

The workshop facilitated collaboration among stakeholders, identifying opportunities to strengthen the tourism sector. By fostering stronger public-private partnerships, the initiative ensures a unified strategy for tourism development.

With the DMMO in place, Masvingo Province is poised to become a top destination for tourists, offering a unique blend of culture, history, and natural beauty. The province boasts iconic attractions such as the Great Zimbabwe National Monument, Gonarezhou National Park, and Kyle Recreational Park.

The establishment of the DMMO is a significant step towards positioning Great Zimbabwe as a premier tourist destination, driving economic growth and cultural exchange. This initiative will not only benefit the local community but also contribute to the country's overall economic development.
