Masvingo Province is preparing for what could become one of the most defining moments in its modern tourism and economic development journey. As we welcome the prestigious Sanganai/Hlanganani-Dzimbahwe World Travel Expo 2026 this September, our historic province stands poised to take centre stage as a vibrant hub of tourism, trade, culture and investment.
The master programme presents an unprecedented convergence of activities across the province. The momentum begins with an extensive programme of sports tourism events from 1–4 September, followed by the vibrant Sanganai Street Carnival and Kids Fun Factory along Main Street on 5 September.
The programme then moves into a more strategic phase, with professional masterclasses, the Tourism Investment Conference and high-level B2B networking sessions from 8–11 September. These engagements present an important opportunity to move beyond celebration and position Masvingo as a serious destination for investment, business partnerships, tourism development and regional economic growth.
The much-anticipated resuscitation of Masvingo Airport adds another historic dimension, culminating in the Sanganai Air Show on 12 September. The reopening and renewed utilisation of our aviation infrastructure could significantly improve regional accessibility, strengthen tourism connectivity and open new possibilities for business and investment.
Our greatest heritage asset will, naturally, remain at the heart of the showcase. Great Zimbabwe Monuments will welcome international delegates, while the Sanganai Tourism & Culture Night and the grand Masvingo Shutdown Party will provide platforms through which our music, food, traditions, creativity and hospitality can be experienced and celebrated.
Another landmark moment will be the launch and commissioning of the Great Zimbabwe double-deck cruise boat on Lake Mutirikwi, adding a new dimension to our province’s tourism offering and demonstrating the potential of our inland water bodies to drive leisure, recreation and investment.
Beyond the events and attractions, Masvingo has an opportunity to tell its own story.
The unveiling of the exclusive Dzimbahwe video and documentary will help capture the essence of who we are — from our traditional brews, music and cuisine to our culture, traditions, people and way of life. It is an opportunity to present Masvingo not simply as a destination to visit, but as a destination to experience.
At Great Zimbabwe Times, we believe this moment deserves to be documented, promoted and commercially leveraged. We have therefore developed dedicated opportunities for tourists, exhibitors, international buyers, hospitality operators, businesses, investors and other stakeholders visiting the province.
Through special editions, multimedia storytelling, destination features and strategic advertising packages, we seek to connect local businesses and tourism enterprises directly with the national and international audience that Sanganai will bring to Masvingo.
This is bigger than an expo.
It is an opportunity to create lasting economic value, strengthen local businesses, promote our tourism assets, attract investment, create employment opportunities and place Masvingo firmly on the regional and international tourism map.
But the success of this defining moment will not depend on government and tourism authorities alone. Every resident, business owner, tourism operator, community leader and stakeholder has a role to play.
Our visitors must experience the warmth of Masvingo. They must see our pride. They must encounter our culture. They must discover our investment opportunities. And, most importantly, they must leave with a compelling reason to return — either as tourists, business partners or investors.
Let us therefore receive our visitors with pride, professionalism and genuine hospitality.
Let us showcase the wealth, warmth, heritage and unmatched potential of Masvingo to Africa and the world.
September is our moment.
Let us make it count.
