Inaugural Youth Business Expo held in Masvingo

The Youth Business occurred at Masvingo Civic Centre on 11 November 2022 with the young exhibitors expressing optimism that the expo will provide them with diverse opportunities to help their business grow and expand.

Organised by the Administrative Officer Youth Development and Empowerment department under Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation with the support of Masvingo City Council, the gathering was running under the theme, ”Revitalising And Empowering Youth in Business Across Value Chain” .

The Administrative Officer Youth, Godwin Mazarire, who is the organizer of the event said that the expo was one of the measures taken inorder to empower the youth by facilitating a platform to network, showcase and market their products.

”Our youth should be cognisant of the fact that they are the majority of our population demography hence we cannot talk of economic development without involving them,” he said.

The youth managed to interface with the critical players in the business which includes Women’s Bank, Empower Bank, Econet, Youth Association and other government departments which have some youth focal desks.

The director of Atty Collections who is into fashion industry said that interacting and learning new skills from others will be the key in the growth of their business.

“The expo has given us an opportunity to market our own services and we are grateful of being part of the expo as it is exposing us to the world and people from other areas. The fact that we are interacting with other people gives our business an opportunity to grow,”she said.

 Mazarire confirmed that the expo was a huge success as the support they got from all stakeholders was overwhelming. 

This is the first Youth Business Expo to be held in Masvingo and stakeholders are extremely happy. The event was created as a way of helping young entrepreneurs to tap into local and global markets.
