From Passions to Profit: Women Entrepreneurship day Summit set for Harare

The upcoming Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Summit, scheduled for 28 November at Hatfield Elite Academy in Harare, is set to be a vibrant gathering of inspiration, innovation, and empowerment for women in business. Hosted by Shekinah Media, and led by the Women Entrepreneurship Day Organization’s Ambassador in Zimbabwe, this event celebrates the immense contributions of women entrepreneurs to Zimbabwe’s economic and social development. It will offer an engaging platform where women can connect, exchange ideas, showcase products, and grow their businesses within a supportive community.

The summit will feature an array of influential speakers who bring rich experience and diverse perspectives to the stage. Notable business leader Ken Sharpe, CEO of WestProp Holdings, will share his journey and offer insights on sustainable business practices, underscoring the potential for growth and economic impact in Zimbabwe. As a visionary entrepreneur, Sharpe’s address is expected to inspire attendees to pursue opportunities that foster both individual and community prosperity.

Vimbai Nyemba, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Justice, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs, will provide a thought-provoking session on the empowerment laws in Zimbabwe and how women entrepreneurs can leverage these policies. Known for her work in advocating for women in procurement, Nyemba’s insights will equip attendees with a practical understanding of how the legal framework can support their entrepreneurial aspirations.


Adding a conservation perspective, Vongai Makamure Nduna, Regional Communications Manager for WWF in the Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) region, will discuss the impact of environmental preservation on women’s empowerment. She will explore the unique opportunities that conservation efforts bring for women, emphasizing how sustainable practices can create both economic benefits and a positive environmental legacy. Her address will bridge the world of environmental advocacy and entrepreneurship, offering a holistic view on sustainable growth.


Tabeth Chichetu, Director of Isles Zimbabwe, will focus on igniting and sustaining the passion for entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe. Chichetu will share her experiences, addressing the challenges and rewards of building a business with dedication and vision. Her session will highlight the importance of resilience and the impact of passionate entrepreneurship on personal and community levels.


The summit will also feature a bustling exhibition area where women entrepreneurs will display their products and services, from innovative consumer goods to unique artisanal creations. Companies will have the opportunity to showcase their brands, connecting with attendees and expanding their reach within the community.
