The Women's Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) is set to make a lasting impact in the Midlands Province with the official launch of WEDO Midlands on July 25th in Zvishavane. This monumental event marks the beginning of an initiative dedicated to empowering women, fostering entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable economic opportunities across the region. The occasion will be further highlighted by the inauguration of Linie l Dube as the official WEDO Midlands ambassador, a role she will use to drive transformational programs for women and marginalized communities.
WEDO, a globally recognized movement operating in 144 countries, is committed to supporting women in business, providing access to mentorship, funding, and entrepreneurial resources, and advocating for gender equality in economic participation. With its expansion into Midlands, WEDO is reinforcing its dedication to equipping women with the tools necessary to thrive in business, leadership, and community development. The organization first made its presence felt in the province in 2023, commemorating International Women’s Day with an impactful event supported by Mimosa Mining Company, the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Zvishavane Town Council, Midlands State University, various women entrepreneurs and SMEs, and key stakeholders invested in community development. This pivotal gathering emphasized the need for structured initiatives to bolster entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, laying the groundwork for WEDO’s continued expansion in Zimbabwe.
As WEDO Midlands takes shape, Zvishavane will serve as the heart of its empowerment programs, rolling out initiatives that provide women with business development training, financial literacy education, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Lini-el Dube’s leadership will be central to these efforts, as she brings vast experience in business, psychology, and advocacy to her role. Having survived cancer for seven years, Liniel has used her journey as a source of inspiration, championing awareness programs and publishing her book, My Pink Battle, which documents her fight against cancer and her path to resilience. Her ability to turn personal challenges into platforms for empowerment makes her the ideal ambassador to lead WEDO Midlands into a new era of inclusion and progress.
The July 25th launch in Zvishavane promises to be a defining moment for Midlands, as stakeholders, policymakers, business professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs come together to celebrate WEDO’s mission and Liniel’s appointment. This event is not just a formal gathering—it is the beginning of an ambitious movement that will provide women across the province with opportunities for economic advancement and personal growth. With Lini-el ’s leadership and the unwavering support of WEDO, Midlands is poised to become a powerful hub for entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development.
Through WEDO Midlands, women in the region will gain access to resources that enable them to build successful businesses, navigate financial challenges, and expand their professional networks. This launch is more than a celebration—it is a commitment to fostering long-term change, ensuring that women in Midlands not only participate in business but lead with confidence and purpose.
As July 25th approaches, Zvishavane stands ready to host a momentous occasion that will redefine the entrepreneurial landscape of the Midlands Province. This inauguration marks the beginning of a new era, where women, empowered by knowledge and opportunity, drive economic transformation and inspire generations to come. With WEDO Midlands officially taking flight, the province is set to embrace a future shaped by resilience, innovation, and unstoppable progress
