Masvingo Investment Conference: A Great Nexus for Economic Transformation and Investment Partnerships

The Masvingo Investment Conference stands as a great nexus where national vision meets local opportunity—bringing together investors, government stakeholders, business leaders, and development partners to unlock the immense investment potential within Masvingo Province. Anchored in the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), this high-level initiative is being led by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion as part of a broader national program to host Provincial Investment Conferences across Zimbabwe's ten provinces.

Following the successful hosting of investment conferences in Manicaland and Midlands, attention now turns to Masvingo Province. In collaboration with the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA) and the Masvingo Office of the President and Cabinet, the Ministry will host the Masvingo Investment Conference from the 21st to the 26th of July 2025 at the Urban Lifestyle Hotel, Masvingo.

This landmark conference seeks to showcase the rich and diverse investment opportunities across the seven districts of Masvingo Province, with a view to attract both local and international investors. The event will provide a platform for meaningful engagement and robust dialogue among key stakeholders, while also offering clear insights into the national investment climate, regulatory frameworks, and sector-specific opportunities available in Masvingo.

Organized in a hybrid format to cater for both physical and virtual participation, the conference is expected to attract at least 250 in-person delegates, including over 40 exhibitors. Participation is free of charge to ensure broad accessibility and inclusivity, and the event will be supported by Treasury and strategic sponsors.

Themed “Invest in Masvingo: Your Gateway to Economic Growth for Vision 2030”, the conference is designed to ignite strategic investment conversations and partnerships. The program will feature high-level presentations, sector-focused panel discussions, plenary engagements, exhibitions, and tours of selected investment projects. The conference will provide an in-depth look into key sectors such as agriculture and agro-processing, renewable energy, mining, tourism, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

Particular focus will be given to transformative projects such as the Tugwi Mukosi Dam. With its massive potential in hydro-electric power generation, large-scale irrigation, eco-tourism and infrastructure development, Tugwi Mukosi is expected to be a key highlight during the conference and company site visits. This project represents the kind of large-scale investment opportunity that could catalyze economic growth not only in Masvingo but nationally.

The program will commence on the 21st of July 2025 with a two-and-a-half-day technical workshop aimed at evaluating and refining investment projects identified from Masvingo’s seven districts. This workshop will bring together a 60-member technical team drawn from the Ministry of Finance, ZIDA, the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ), African Development Bank (AfDB), District Development Coordinators (DDCs), and Chief Executive Officers of local authorities. The goal is to ensure all projects presented at the conference are investment-ready and strategically aligned with both local priorities and national targets.

The official opening of the conference will take place on the 24th of July 2025. The Resident Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Cde. E. Chadzamira, will deliver the welcome address, setting the tone for engagement. The Guest of Honour, Honourable Professor Mthuli Ncube, Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, will deliver a keynote address focusing on policy clarity, investor assurances, and Zimbabwe’s economic growth trajectory. The Chief Director for Economic Affairs in the Ministry will articulate the objectives and expected outcomes of the conference before the plenary and thematic sessions begin.

A key feature of the Masvingo Investment Conference will be company visits by the Honourable Ministers and senior dignitaries scheduled between the 25th and 26th of July. These visits will offer first-hand experience of major investment projects and allow delegates to assess the investment environment, infrastructure readiness, and commercial viability of opportunities across the province.

Running alongside the main program will be an exhibition showcasing investment-ready projects, innovations, products, and services. A total of 40 exhibitors are expected, with 20 slots reserved specifically for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through collaboration with the Masvingo Chamber of SMEs. This exhibition will enable SMEs to gain visibility, attract partnerships, and participate meaningfully in the province’s investment ecosystem.

The Masvingo Investment Conference is not merely an event—it is a turning point. It is a platform where provincial ambition meets national strategy; where investors, policy-makers, and business leaders come together to shape a bold and prosperous economic future for Masvingo and Zimbabwe at large.
