Unlocking Potential: Masvingo’s Strategic Blueprint for Trade and Industrialisation

Foreword Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Masvingo Province;Hon. E.R. Chadzamira

It is with great pride and anticipation that I

extend a warm welcome to all readers of this

special edition of The Great Zimbabwe Times.

This publication celebrates Masvingo Province’s

immense potential and its strategic contribution

to Zimbabwe’s journey towards industrialisation,

trade expansion, and sustainable economic

growth. As we showcase Masvingo at the

Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) 2026,

we invite you to explore the Province’s unique

assets, diverse investment opportunities, and

forward-looking development trajectory.

Masvingo Province stands at the intersection

of heritage and innovation. As home to the

iconic Great Zimbabwe World Heritage Site and

the scenic Lake Mutirikwi, the Province offers

exceptional prospects in luxury tourism and the

growing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and

Exhibitions (MICE) sector. These natural and

cultural endowments, complemented by a rich

historical legacy, position Masvingo as a premier

destination for both leisure and business tourism.

Government continues to support this growth

through investor-friendly incentives, including

duty rebates on capital equipment and safari

vehicles, as well as targeted tax concessions

designed to attract both local and international

investment.

Our vision is bold and clear: to transform Masvingo

into a USD 8 billion economy by 2030, in line with

the national development agenda under the

leadership of His Excellency, President Cde Dr.

E.D. Mnangagwa. Since the advent of the Second

Republic, deliberate efforts have been made to

unlock the Province’s vast natural and human

resource potential. Key infrastructure such as

the Tugwi-Mukosi Dam—Zimbabwe’s largest

inland water body—continues to drive agricultural

expansion, particularly in irrigation-based farming,

sugar production, and agro-processing industries.

In addition, the Province’s rich mineral base,

including lithium and gold, reinforces its growing

role in Zimbabwe’s mining sector revival.

Masvingo is equally committed to sustainable

development. The Province is advancing

renewable energy initiatives, with solar and

hydroelectric projects gaining momentum

as practical solutions to power industries

and communities. These efforts ensure that

economic growth is not only robust but also

environmentally sustainable and future-oriented.

This publication, together with its accompanying

documentary, has been curated to highlight

Masvingo’s diverse opportunities and its integral

role in advancing Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030. We

remain committed to fostering an enabling

environment that promotes investment,

innovation, and inclusive socio-economic

development. In this regard, I extend a sincere

invitation to investors, development partners,

and stakeholders from across the globe to engage

with Masvingo at ZITF 2026 and beyond.

As we prepare to host the Sanganai/Hlanganani

World Tourism Expo from 9–12 September 2026,

the call to action is clear: the time to invest,

collaborate, and prepare is now. Together, we can

unlock Masvingo’s full potential and position it as a

gateway where heritage inspires investment and a

sustainable future for Zimbabwe is actively being

shaped.

Thank you for your continued interest, support,

and partnership in this exciting chapter of our

national development journey.
